Community tools
On community.gliros.com/tools, members list home-made GlirOS tools that they made and host themselves. These terms apply to listing a tool and to installing one. They add to the terms of use. The privacy policy says what we store.
What GlirOS does and does not do
- GlirOS lists community tools. We don’t host them, and we have not reviewed them: every listing says so.
- When a tool is listed, we download its file once. We check that GlirOS could add it (the same checks the app makes) and keep its fingerprint (SHA-256), not the file. The install link carries that fingerprint, and the app refuses a file that differs, so a file changed after listing is never added.
- We check every listed file again each night. A file that has changed or is gone is marked, and its install link is no longer shown until the maker lists it again.
- Paid tools are not listed here: they are in the GlirOS catalogue, where we review and sign them (see paid tools).
If you install a community tool
- A community tool is made by another member, not by GlirOS. You install it at your own risk.
- GlirOS shows you where the tool comes from and its fingerprint, and asks before adding it. The tool runs in GlirOS’s sandbox and is off until you switch it on. If it uses the internet, GlirOS says so when you switch it on.
- To the extent the law allows, GlirOS is not responsible for what a community tool does, for its content, or for the data it handles. Your rights as a consumer against the maker are not affected.
- Use Report on a listing that does something wrong, or that breaks these terms.
If you list a tool
- You need a GlirOS account, and you list under your community display name. You accept these terms the first time you list.
- You own your tool, you choose its licence, and you answer for it: its content, what it does, and the data it handles. If your tool handles personal data, you are responsible for doing that lawfully.
- You may list only a tool you made or are allowed to share, and that respects other people’s licences and rights.
- Never malware, anything that hides what it does, anything illegal, or anything that uses a real person’s face or voice without their consent.
- Keep the file available at its link. A new version is a new file and a new check.
- Give a working support link or e-mail address.
Removal
We may hide or remove a listing, and pause a member from listing, when a tool breaks these terms or the law, or when we have good reason to think it is harmful. We may do this without notice when a tool is dangerous. You can delete your own listings at any time, and deleting your GlirOS account deletes them.
